This is the website of New Forest Brushes, a small business established by Fido, a shaving enthusiast and blogger, publisher of Fido's Shaving Blog and Fido's Shaving Brush Blog.

Brush heads are made by hand to a specification in China, handles are shaped individually by hand tools on a lathe in the New Forest using high quality polyester resin rods. Decal logos made in Lymington are added and the brushes are sold directly to customers. Very low overheads enable prices to be set well below those of brushes of a comparable quality.

OUR SHAVING BRUSH HANDLES

We make our handles the traditional way - each one is shaped by hand tools on a lathe and polished by hand. Any small irregularity, unevenness or minimal marks are not a manufacturing defect but an assurance that this is a genuine handmade product. Any brush handles that we are not happy with are treated as seconds and will appear as special offers from time to time at a substantial discount.

New Forest Best Badger 2041

These brushes are individually turned on a lathe and shaped by hand in the New Forest in high quality alternative ivory. The brush has a 20mm knot with a 48 mm loft and 45 mm height handle with a maximum diameter of 31 mm.

The brush has a firm backbone - great for face lathering with hard soaps and creams but just as good for bowl lathering.

New Forest 1901 Super Badger Two Band

These brushes are individually turned on a lathe and shaped by hand in the New Forest in high quality alternative ivory. The brush has a 19 mm fan shaped knot with a 45 mm loft and 45 mm height handle with a maximum diameter of 31 mm.

The brush has a firm backbone and soft tips - great for face lathering with hard soaps and creams but just as good for bowl lathering.

New Forest 2031 Super Badger

This Super Badger hair has the same characteristics as the New Forest Two Band grade. Good backbone and soft tips. The brush has a 20mm knot with a loft of 48mm and a handle height of 45mm and 31mm diameter. I use this brush to bowl lather with both soaps and creams then apply the lather by gently painting it on. It feels just the right size and has the firmness to make it very easy to control the application of the lather.

New Forest 2204 Super Badger Two Band

Successor to the highly acclaimed New Forest 2201, this brush has a firm backbone much favoured by shavers who like to face lather with soaps. The soft tips make it very comfortable on the face when used with circular scrubby motions. It's also fine with creams for face or bowl lathering.

The knot is 22mm, with a loft of 50mm and a handle height of 50mm.

New Forest Finest Silvertip 2213

This brush has a 22 mm Finest Silvertip knot with a loft of 50 mm in an ivory alternative handle 50 mm high and a 34 mm diameter. A superb all rounder suitable for use with soaps and creams and with a firm backbone that will appeal to face latherers. Individually hand made in the New Forest.

New Forest High Mountain Badger 2224

This brush has the softest badger hair from a species found only in remote areas of China at high altitude. This will appeal to shavers who like to lather creams in a bowl and paint their lather on in gentle too and from motions - pure luxury. And with a loft of 52mm it can also be used for face lathering. The alternative ivory handle has been shaped by hand tools on a lathe. The height is 45mm and diameter is 35mm. The bulb shaped knot is 22mm at the base.

New Forest Tubby 1 Super Badger Two Band

                                                    

These brushes are fine all rounders with density and backbone suitable for bowl or face lathering with soaps and creams. The resin handles are 39mm diameter and 42mm high with a 24mm knot with a loft of 52mm.

New Forest Tubby 2 Super Badger Two Band

 The ivory alternative handles are individually shaped by hand on a lathe in the New Forest and the 26mm knots are Super Badger Two Band hair. A firm backbone with soft tips make these superb all round brushes for use with hard soaps and creams. The loft is 54mm and the height and diameter of the handles is 45mm.
