I like and preferred the look of the new fan shape as well.
ReplyDeleteReally looking forward to the new "New Forest High Mountain brush"

Of course, as the loft is lowered, the fan shape tends to become more rounded at the top. As always, a compromise is necessary.
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy these type of fan shaped knots. My only concern would be that the brush could be too floppy. Are you prototyping this knot before going to production?
At 47 mm it's OK. I have aimed for adequate rather than stiff backbone, but it will not be "floppy". It would be at or above about 52 mm.
ReplyDeleteHave you considered a real "flat" topped fan shape?
ReplyDeleteYes Leonard, but I like to avoid extremes. The new shape is as flat as I would wish it to be - I'm aiming at the average enthusiast!
ReplyDeleteSir,
ReplyDeleteI love your Silver Tip Brush and can't wait for the High Mountain to come out. However I've never used a Fan shape brush. Could you explain How a Fan shape should act and how your High Mountain new fan shape brush is supposed to act? Thank You.
I noted that fan shaped brushes are very popular among enthusiasts. So it seemed to make sense to follow my first two bulb shape brushes with something different. The fan shape ensures that more of the tips are in immediate contact with your face, the effect is to make the brush seem larger than a bulb shape with the same knot size and loft. The loft of the new brush is 47 mm to ensure adequate backbone so it will feel quite firm. Excellent for any lathering preference.
